Panache were awarded the contract to design
and build the empty Homebase store in its en¬tirety. This
included the installation of a mezzanine to increase selling
space to a useful 50,OQOsqft, and leaving a void to the front
area of the store.
The interior layout was formulated after the furniture layout
was produced allowing the lighting to the designed in order
to ensure maximum flexibility of layout without compromising
the product positioning.
Finishes to the walls and floors were adopted along with
screening systems to compliment the furniture displays, and
full lighting and carpet departments.
An Air-conditioning system used to ensure comfortable temperatures
throughout the year
A chrome balustrade housing acid etched glass highlighted
to unusual shape of the mezzanine edge and also formed the
backdrop to the central reception and information desk. Encompassed
within the building works were a large passenger lift, the
revision and layout to the toilet block, installation of full
height windows to two elevations, and glazed canopies over
the main entrances.
Externally new corporate signage was fitted at strategic positions
allowing the use of external lighting to be used to great
effect.
